Well being at the Bazan Bay 5k, representing the series with my table, banner, brochures, shirts etc etc was enjoyable. I talked to plenty of people. Some already signed up, some planning to and many talking about their race Sunday, the Bazan Bay 5k.

I thought there was going to be (I heard) quite a few more male elite athletes there, below the 15-minute threshold however, there were a few good surprises like Jim Finlayson running quite well and Steve Osaduik in the middle of marathon training 1 second behind 14:58 and :59 respectively. Paula Findlay, one of Canada’s best triathletes recently moved to Victoria, she set the women’s course record with her 16:33.

Funny. I take series shirts so people can see what they look like. The shirts for 2011 are not screened yet, but they are a step up from 2010, which were cotton tees. This year Saucony as well as Island Runner have supplied technical tops. Saucony a long-sleeve and Island Runner with various. Anyway some participants snuck away with my shirts. 1 lady even put hers on right away and walked right past me wearing it. I missed it all.

Not their fault. I guess they looked free, but they are not. Next time I do a booth, I am hanging 1 shirt on a clothes Hangar.

All in all a great day.
