Dylan Haight Wins the Inaugural Q’s Victoria Track Series 3000m event

Victoria (May 7, 2010) – Future University of Victoria athlete and Oak Bay High School grad Dylan Haight won the first race in the inaugural Q’s Victoria Track Series, Saturday, May 1st 2010 at the Jack Wallace Memorial Track at Oak Bay High School. He finished in the time of 8:32.7.

Haight was competing against fellow Vike, Clifford Childs as well as Peter Corrigan representing the Running Room, Kenyan Willy Langat, UVic alumni, Nick Walker, Craig Odermatt andSean Chester were amongst the dozen runners competing in the elite division of the 3000m race.

Athletes were looking to achieve the World Junior Track and Field Championships qualifying time of 8:15. The World Juniors take place July 19 – 25th in Moncton, New Brunswick. “There is plenty of time to qualify and there was a very strong wind, which likely effected times, although his performance was very good, regardless”. – Christopher Kelsall, Series Director.

There were 6 races on the slate ranging from 800m to 5000m. The next meet is Saturday May 15, 2010 also at Jack Wallace Memorial Track. Full results are available at the series website.

The Q’s Victoria Track Series is an 8-meet series over a 16-week span of time, which began Saturday, May 1st, and runs through to Saturday August 21st.
