Elite 5000m may be combined with 3000m
Currently, as of this writing, there are 3 male and 1 female elite runners registered in the 5000m for Saturday May 1st – the inaugural event.
Those 4 runners may be moved into the 3000m elite divisions. TBD. Stay tuned.
Please remember that other than the 6:30 PM first race of the night – all races are on a rolling schedule. When you registered (or for those watching) the subsequent races start ‘when they start’.
DONATIONS: For those watching and cheering, please provide a small cash donation towards the Mustard Seed Food bank or a non-perishable food item. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
If you are racing, please reads the FAQs off the Home Page.
Enjoy the sponsor videos, for example. Chris Kinnear with Popeye’s and his attempt at the Popeye laugh – rather sad AND funny, really.
In the Sticky Wicket Video, you will see me in Big Bad John’s. If you are not familiar the walls are plastered with goodwill messages from patrons, people who visited from all over the world. Also, bras sound-proof the establishment. Bra donations are welcome (At Big Bad John’s) and the floor is covered in peanut shells!
Saturday May 1st – the Inaugural event, check out the elite 3000m race that is added. Oh sure it may have cannibalized the 5000m, but be entertained by guys like Dylan Haight looking to qualify for World Junior Track and Field Championships this July in Moncton, New Brunswick. The time he is after is 8:15. There is a solid field registered and ready to go. Keith and Brent and team from UVic registered quite a few fastees!!
REGISTER early as Race Directors are known to say very bad things about people who show up at the last minute waving money at them pleading for inclusion into a race. Technically speaking if we do not have your reg. form and payment by 6:00 PM YOU MORPH INTO A SPECTATOR!
Kid’s race: 800m 9 – 15 year olds – race managed by the legendary Gary Barber – I believe he still owns the British 1 mile High School record (30 years later? – something like that).
VOTE: At info@victoriatrackseries.ca for the best performance of the night. It does not have to be the fastest, could be the most inspirational or a big improvement or terrifying, either way VOTE. You could win a small Saucony prize pack for voting (vote after each meet) and the athlete who accumulates the most votes wins a 3-night stay at the beautiful Sun Ridge Resort in Parksville.
