On the heels of the very fun and inspiring performance by the 4 amigos: Kevin Searle, Garth Campbell, Peter Holmes and Mark Pinckard, who took down the Canadian age-group record for masters aged 50-plus in the 4 x 800m relay event, I have been approached by a potential women’s team of the same age.

Bring it.

In fact if you are reading this and wonder if you can do the same, get a team together and email me. I will help you make it happen: info@victoriatrackseries.ca.

Check the CMA (Google it – running out of battery on my laptop right now). Canadian Masters Association I think…and look at all  National and Provincial age-group records, one might be there for the taking.

During the 2010 season – the 2010, Q’s Victoria Track Series that is - there was 5 Canadian age-group records taken down, 4 by Maurice Tarrant (80) and 1 by Herb Phillips (70) and two provincial records, an Albertan mile for 50-plus and a BC record by Maurice Tarrant on a near miss of another Canadian record. He also almost missed a world record in the mile.

Come on out and bring your age-group, record-making, breaking or setting capabilities and I will help make it happen. Well to be clear, I will make room for your event….you make it happen.

BC Athletics is on hand, timing and sanctioning at all meets, so as long as you submit the paperwork with the correct signatures – all you have to do is run your butt off like the 4 amigos did. I mean watch the video, the last thing they said was, “what could be more fun than that”?
