Title Sponsor

Thank you! to Tindy Bassi and staff of 100.3 the Q! for years one and two and now for committing to year three – in recognizing the value of this community sports event: The Q’s Victoria Track Series. 100.3 the Q! are the Title Sponsor of the series, hence the name!

About 100.3 the Q!

100.3 the Q! started broadcasting to Victorians in December 1987, the inaugural song? Start Me Up, by the Rolling Stones. I remember that day. Victoria was a long-starved city for it’s own mainstream FM rock station. Since then, 100.3 the Q! has claimed that their house band is the iconic Canadian rockers, The Tragically Hip. They have also thrilled early morning listeners to the sounds of the accordion played live each weekday morning by Ed Bain, long-time on-air personality for the Q! during The Q! Morning Show, which broadcasts from 5:30-9:00 am – along with his own personal Ed McMahon, Cliff Lequesne, who is also a local sports advocate and public address announcer.

100.3 the Q! supports many community events including the Canadian Cancer Society’s, Cops for Cancer – Tour de Rock, 24 Hour Relay for the kids, Relay for Life, TLC Fund for the kids and our mutual charity-of-choice, the Mustard Seed.

Just like when Victoria was a long-starved city for mainstream FM rock, Victoria – the endurance sport mecca of Canada, is a long starved market for a track series. Thanks to 100.3 The Q! Indeed, Start us up!

The Sticky Wicket. Series Official Hospitality Venue. The Sticky Wicket was established in 1990, in the 97-year old nightlife hotspot, The Strathcona Hotel. The Strathcona Hotel features 7 venues to dine or party and even play beach volleyball May through September, on the roof!

The Strath’s owner Grant Olson and marketing man, Joel Chudleigh support many minor league sports throughout the city of Victoria, from soccer to baseball and everything in between. They also support the local music scene. If an A-list act is coming to Victoria, look for them to play downstairs at Element.

Look for a press conference, post-race fun and season-ending, post-race awards party and Silent Auction events to happen here.

With it’s roots dating back to the beginning of the 1900’s The Strathcona Hotel has been a Downtown Victoria landmark for almost a century. Over the years there have been many changes, but one thing remains the consistent, The Strathcona’s dedication to serving the Victoria community. Originally constructed in 1913 as an office building it was open for only one year before being called upon to serve Canada as an Officers barracks during the first world war. Because of the renovations needed to convert the then office space to living quarters once the war ended the doors were reopened to the public and in 1918 The Strathcona Hotel was born.
